RECORDS THAT MIGHT NOT BE BROKEN IN FOOTBALL HISTORY

At the end of a season, there are records broken or recorded achieved in football which may shock, amaze or amuse in equal measure. Records are meant to be broken but some records are unlikely to be broken here are 13 famous football records that are yet to be broken in football history:

  1. Most goals scored by a goalkeeper- Brazilian goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni has recorded a total of 128 career goals.
  2. Most goals scored in a calendar year- Argentinian Lionel Messi scored a total of 91 goals both for the club and the National team in the 2011-12 season.
  3. Most international goals- Cristiano Ronaldo holds the record with 116 goals in 184 appearances for Portugal.
  4. Youngest scorer in a final- at the age of seventeen Pele scored three goals in the finals and also won three World Cups.
  5. Conceding fewer goals in one season- Chelsea conceded only 15 goals back in the 2004-05 season under Mourinho as they had 25 clean sheets that campaign, no Premier League has beaten the record so far.
  6. First touch goals- Bas Dost has scored 45 goals with his first touch.
  7. Fastest hat trick in the Premier League- Sadio Mane’s hat trick took him 2 minutes 56 seconds for Southampton against Aston Villa back in 2015. The fastest hat trick ever was scored by Alex Torr in just 70 seconds.
  8. Chelsea’s European double- Chelsea won the UEFA Champions League in 2012 and in the next season they finished third so they had to drop to the Europa League in which they defeated Benfica in the final (May 2013) after they had a great run in the competition. The UCL final was 10 days away so Chelsea had the UCL Cup won the previous year and the Europa Cup which they had won recently.
  9. The longest penalty shootout- the Namibian Cup in 2005 had a total of 48 penalty kicks until the winner emerged.
  10. Most red cards in a football match- a total of 36 red cards were issued in a match back in 2011 by referee Damian Rubino.
  11. Most individual goals in a single match- the 2002 World Cup qualification match between Australia vs American Samoa saw Archie Thompson scoring 13 goals and Australia won the game 31-0.
  12. Highest attendance for a single match- the Maracana stadium holds the record for having the highest attendance for a single match during the 1950 World Cup between Brazil vs Uruguay Match with a total of 199,854 present fans.
  13. Coach with most titles- Sir Alex Ferguson has won a total of 48 titles in his coaching career.
