Walkover is a common word used in the modern day football and in other different sports as well like tennis, cricket, poker only to mention but a few.

Also known as WO is the practice of awarding victory to the team because the opponents failed to avail themselves for a scheduled fixture, the team that showed up is normally  awarded a 3-0 victory. A walkover can happen due to various reasons in the team like injures, disqualifications or unforeseen circumstances.

It is very rare for a WO to happen in the modern day football especially in the top European leagues like the Premier League since there are serious punishments for the teams giving walkovers, but in the Kenya Premier League we see some teams giving walkovers to the opponents due to the challenges they face. Here is a list of Kenyan teams that benefited from walkovers in the 2018/19 season.

It is very painful to loss a football match through walkover since the team did not have a chance to physically defend themselves on the pitch.
