Since Ronaldo started his football career in Sporting, Manchester United, Juventus, Real Madrid or Al Nasr we have seen him in long-sleeved jerseys. If he wears a short-sleeved sleeve we could see another long-sleeved shirt inside which covers his arms.
Regardless of the weather, CR7 has made it his tradition of wearing long sleeves, in Qatar during the World Cup the Portuguese player was the only player wearing long sleeves for the country despite the hot weather at the time. Portugal fans urge that he wears long sleeves so that the armband has better grip during games since he is the Portugal captain.
There is no official reason as to why he prefers wearing long sleeves but he could be doing so for several personal reasons and explanations. The obvious reason is that he wears long sleeves for warmth during games, especially during winter months but note that he wears them regardless of the weather. We can also possibly say that he wears long sleeves when others wear short sleeves as the norm for him to stand out a bit more since he has always been a style and a brand-oriented player to establish a signature look. The long sleeves compress his arm muscles which helps increase the blood flow, the jersey also protects his arms from minor cuts or injuries during the game.
Ronaldo has done short sleeves occasionally but rarely like he wore short sleeves when Portugal was knocked out in the Euro 2021 semi-finals. We have seen CR7 with no tattoos and he revealed in 2012 that he can never get a tattoo so that he can continue donating blood more often.
We have seen also the likes of David Beckham and Fernando Torres wearing long sleeves in their active careers.
