LAST MATCHES IN THE EUROPEAN LEAGUE COMPETITION

The UEFA Champions League and Europa League have reached the final matches this week in the League phase. The competition commenced on 9 July 2024 and runs until May 31st 2025. Thirty-six teams are involved in the competition, and the top eight teams automatically qualify for the round of 16. Teams from positions 9 to 24 play in a knockout stage, and the eight winners advance to the round of 16. The other teams from positions 25 to 36 are eliminated from the competition.

Here is a look at the teams to watch on the last match day.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE (29-jan-2025)

MANCHESTER CITY VS CLUB BRUGGE KV

The English Premier League champions must win the match against Club Brugge KV at home for a chance to proceed to the round of 16, City are currently in the 25th position while Brugge is at position 20 in the table.

INTER MILAN VS MONACO

Inter need to preserve their unbeaten home record of three wins in this league phase of the UEFA Champions League to guarantee their automatic progression to the Round of 16 and Monaco on the other hand will look for a win for a chance to climb to the top eight position for automatic qualification.

LILLE VS FEYENOORD

Both teams have a strong chance of finishing in the top eight of this season’s UEFA Champions League league phase – and therefore obtaining direct progression to the Round of 16, the two sides share points in the league phase table.

STUTTGART VS PSG

The match will be a very interesting clash between the two teams since both teams are currently clinging onto a top 24 spot,  PSG is tied with Stuttgart on ten points but sits a couple of places higher up the table owing to a superior goal difference.

UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE (30-jan-2025)

FCSB VS MANCHESTER UNITED

Both teams are currently inside the top eight position but a loss to either of the teams puts them at risk of dropping into the knockout play-off position.

MIDTJYLLAND VS FENERBAHCE

Neither of the teams can qualify automatically for the round of 16 of the Europa League but still, both of them are in danger of being eliminated if they are defeated, both teams will be playing their best game for a chance to finish in the top 24 spot.

RANGERS VS ROYALE UNION SG

A win for either side could send them straight into the last 16 if there are some favourable results from the other matches, both teams have eleven points each in the table and are in position 13 and 15 respectively.

All matches are played at the same time which is 2300 hrs (EAT).
