A single player scoring three or more goals for the team in a match is a very tough task to achieve, but some players like Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi scoring goals is natural to them where Messi falls in second with the most hat-tricks and Cristiano takes the first place. A player is usually awarded the match ball after the game has ended if they have achieved scoring a hat-trick during the match, here is a list of ten footballers who have managed to score three goals in a single game and have entered the record of players with most hat-tricks.
CRISTIANO RONALDO (66 HAT-TRICKS)
The Portuguese super star has managed to keep a gap between himself and his rival superstar Messi with seven more hat-tricks. Cristiano has made over 1200 appearances both Club and Country games with 66 hat-ticks, he has no signs of retiring anytime soon and maybe he might reach scoring 1000 goals in his career.
LIONEL MESSI (59 HAT-TRICKS)
The 2022 World Cup winner scored 91 goals in a calendar year. Now playing for Inter Miami, he still scores goals there as he approaches the age of forty. Messi has made over 1100 appearances for both club and country, having a record of 59 hat-tricks.
ALI ASHFAQ (35 HAT-TRICKS)
The name probably will be unfamiliar to some football fans, Ali Ashfaq played most of his games in the Maldives which is his home country. He has played for a total of 13 different clubs during his career and has managed to score 35 hat-tricks in his career, he is currently playing for a Maldives club known as the Club Eagles.
ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI (33 HAT-TRICKS)
The Polish striker has netted a hat-trick for three different clubs in the UEFA Champions League with winning trebles for Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Barcelona. Lewandowski has also scored six hat-tricks for his National team Poland, he scored his 33rd career hat-trick against Alaves in La Liga which took his 32 minutes to score the three goals.
LUIZ SUAREZ (29 HAT-TRICKS)
The Uruguayan was a goal-scoring machine during his prime while playing for Liverpool and Barcelona, though he still scores for his current team Inter Miami at the age of 37 years. Suarez scored a total of seven hat-tricks during the 2015/16 season for Barcelona.
ALI MABKHOUT (27 HAT-TRICKS)
The United Arab Emirates National has played most of his entire career at the Al Jazira, until 2024 when he joined Al-Nasr in Saudi Arabia. He has a record of nine hat-tricks for his country and has scored a total of 210 goals in 281 league games making him the UEA Pro League side’s top scorer of all time.
VYACHESLAV ZAHOVAIKO (26 HAT-TRICKS)
The Estonian scored 121 goals for FC Flora his hometown club in the period 1999 to 2019, however, he was not that fruitful throughout his international career as he only scored eight goals in 39 appearances.
HARRY KANE (25 HAT-TRICKS)
Kane is England’s and Tottenham’s all-time top goal scorer, the Bayern Munich forward left the English club having scored 18 hat-tricks and has already scored seven more hat-tricks for the German side Bayern Munich.
ERLING HAALAND (25 HAT-TRICKS)
The 24-year-old Manchester City striker has a superior number of hat-tricks in his career so far, with his age he can even triple the number of hat-tricks he has now by the time he retires. The Norwegian is only five hat-tricks away from breaking the all-time Premier League hat-trick record which is currently held by Kun Aguero.
ALEKSANDAR DURIC (22 HAT-TRICKS)
Duric retired at the age of 49 years in 2019 after playing for almost three decades for a total of 18 different football clubs in his career. He comes from Singapore.
The all-time top hat-trick scorer in football history is Erwin Helmchen from Germany with 141 hat-tricks followed by the Brazilian legend Pele with 92 hat-tricks.
