The Chelsea defender slipped twice during a match against Tottenham Hotspurs on Sunday 8th December 2024, the two slips gave the home team goal-scoring opportunities and took them to their advantage and they were leading the game 2-0 in the 11th minute of the game thanks to goals from Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski.

Cucurella signalled the Blues dugout and indicated that he needed to change his playing boots and he rushed to the sideline to switch the cleats. At the moment the home team Spurs were leading the game 2-0, a few minutes later in the 17th minute the Spaniard created an assist to Jadon Sancho who scored a goal to make the scoreline 2-1 by the end of the first half. By the end of the 90+ minutes, Chelsea went on to win the game 4-3 which is a great comeback in Premier League history with the huge help of Marc Cucurella after changing his cleats.

Cucurella later posted a photo on his social media showing the first set of boots he wore before changing them in the trash bin and wrote on his Instagram “It almost slipped away but proud of the amazing team effort to turn things around”.

Cucurella wore the brand new next-gen Puma future boots with a new 360-degree speed-sole plate but the defender struggled playing with them and opted for his old Puma cleats after just 12 minutes of playing on them.
