The hearing into the 115 charges against Man City over financial breaches begins on Monday (16th/Sep/2024), it is expected that all evidence will have to be heard in the course of the next 10 weeks. Man City was charged to an independent commission in February 2023 following a four-year investigation. A leaked information published in Der Spiegel, the Premier League champions have been charged with breaking the FFP (Financial Fair Play) rule starting the year 2009 until 2018 which is over nine years, during the same period City won the Premier League title thrice while denying all the charges, The final judgement is set to be ruled early 2025.
City is accused of failing to provide accurate financial details over nine seasons according to Premier League. Of the 115 charges, 80 are for breaches of the regulation between 2009 and 2018 while the 35 relate to failing to cooperate with the Premier League’s investigation.
Man City bosses have told their players to be very calm about the charges insisting that “not one rule has been broken”. If found guilty City could face points deductions, fines or even a demotion out of the Premier League, which could also end Guardiola’s glorious reign.
Everton and Nottingham Forest were hit by points deductions last season for a single breach; now imagine what about 115 charges?
